Eli Kean, Ph.D.

About Me

Dr. Eli Kean (they/them) earned their Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from Michigan State University, and a Master of Arts in Higher Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Eli has over a decade of experience working in higher education, spanning instructional, administrative and research roles.

Eli is the recipient of the Dissertation of the Year award from AERA Queer Studies SIG, and was a cohort member of Curriculum Inquiry's Writing Fellowship in 2018.

Broadly, Dr. Kean's interdisciplinary interests include anti-oppressive education, gender studies, curriculum theory, and qualitative research. Their primary goal as an academic is to help shape gendered educational practices in expansive and affirming directions.
